An Act of Oblation to the Sacred Heart

DIVINE Heart of my Jesus! I adore Thee with all the powers of my soul,
which I consecrate to Thee for ever, with my thoughts, my words, my
works, and my whole self. I purpose to offer to Thee, as far as I can,
acts of adoration, love, and glory, like unto those which Thou offerest
to Thy eternal Father. Be Thou, I beseech Thee, the repairer of my
transgressions, the protector of my life, my refuge and asylum in the
hour of death. By Thy sighs, and by that sea of bitterness in which Thou
wast plunged for me throughout Thy whole mortal life, grant me true
contrition for my sins, contempt of earthly things, a burning desire of
eternal glory, trust in Thy infinite merits, and final perseverance in
Thy grace.

Heart of Jesus, all love! I offer Thee these humble prayers for myself
and for all who unite with me in spirit to adore Thee. Vouchsafe out of
Thy great goodness to hear and answer them, chiefly for that one among
us who will first end this mortal life. Sweet Heart of Jesus! pour into
his heart, in his death agony, Thine inward consolations; receive him
within Thy sacred wound; cleanse him from all stains in that furnace of
love, so that Thou mayest soon open to him the gates of Thy eternal
glory, there to intercede with Thee for all those who tarry yet in this
land of exile.

Most holy Heart of my most loving Jesus! For myself, a wretched sinner,
and for all who unite with me in adoring Thee, I purpose to renew and
offer to Thee these acts of adoration and these prayers at every moment
and to the last instant of my life. I recommend to Thee, my Jesus, our
holy Church, Thy well-beloved spouse and our true mother; the souls who
are following the path of justice, poor sinners, the afflicted, the
dying, all men on the face of the entire earth. Let not Thy blood be
shed in vain for them; and vouchsafe, lastly, to apply it for the relief
of the souls in purgatory, and above all, for those who in life were
foremost in their devotion to Thee.

Most loving heart of Mary, which, amongst the hearts of all God's
creatures, is at once the purest and the most inflamed with love for
Jesus, and the most compassionate toward us poor sinners, obtain for us
from the Heart of Jesus, our Redeemer, all graces which we ask of thee.
Mother of mercies, one throb, a single beat of thy burning heart,
offered by thee to the Heart of Jesus, has power to console us to the
full. Grant us, then, this favor. And then the Heart of Jesus, through
the filial love He had for thee, and will ever have, will not fail to
hear and answer our request. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING

O LORD Jesus Christ! In union with that divine intention, with which
Thou, whilst on earth, didst give praise to God through Thy most sacred
Heart, and which Thou dost still everywhere offer to Him in the Holy
Eucharist, even to the consummation of the world; I, in imitation of the
most sacred heart of the ever-immaculate Virgin Mary, do most cheerfully
offer to Thee, during this entire day, all my thoughts and intentions,
all my affections and desires, my words and all my works.

Indulgence. 100 days, once a day. (Leo XIII, Dec. 19, 1885.)

Ejaculation

Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine!

Indulgence. 300 days, once a day. (Pius IX, January 25, 1858.)

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

(Prayer of St Alphonsus.)

ADORABLE Heart of my Jesus, Heart created expressly for the love of men!
Until now I have shown toward Thee only ingratitude. Pardon me, O my
Jesus! Heart of my Jesus, abyss of love and of mercy, how is it possible
that I do not die of sorrow when I reflect on Thy goodness to me and my
ingratitude to Thee? Thou, my Creator, after having created me, hast
given Thy blood and Thy life for me; and, not content with this, Thou
hast invented a means of offering Thyself up every day for me in the
Holy Eucharist, exposing Thyself to a thousand insults and outrages. O
Jesus, do Thou wound my heart with a great contrition for my sins, and a
lively love for Thee. Through Thy tears and Thy blood give me the grace
of perseverance in Thy fervent love until I breathe my last sigh. Amen.

Prayer To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus for Priests

Remember, O most loving Heart of Jesus,
that they for whom I pray
are those for whom You prayed so earnestly
the night before Your death.
These are they to whom You look to continue
with You in Your sorrows when others forsake You,
who share Your griefs and have inherited your persecutions,
according to Your word:
That the servant is not greater than his Lord.

Remember, O Heart of Jesus,
that they are the objects of the world's hatred
and Satan's deadliest snares.
Keep them then, O Jesus,
in the safe citadel of Your Sacred Heart
and there let them be sanctified in truth.
May they be one with you and one among themselves,
and grant that multitudes
may be brought through their word
to believe in You and love You.

Amen.

Married Couple's Prayer To The Sacred Heart

(For the ideal union in love of husband for wife and wife for husband, God's examples are before you, Joseph and Mary. Your marriage is something to be appreciated ever more deeply. From time to time meditate on its precious character, as, for example, is suggested in the following prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for husband and wife to say in their own behalf. We can summarize the spirit of Christian married life no better than in this prayer.)
O most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
King and center of all hearts,
dwell in our hearts and be our King;
grant us by Your grace to love each other truly and chastely,
even as You have loved Your spotless Bride, the Church,
and have given Yourself up for her.

Bestow upon us that mutual love
and Christian forbearance
which are so highly acceptable in Your sight,
and a mutual patience in bearing each other's defects;
for we are certain that no living creature is free from them.
Do not permit even the slightest defect to mar that full and gentle harmony of spirit,
the foundation of the mutual assistance
in the many and varied hardships of life,
that is the end for which woman was created
and united inseparably to her husband.

** (See note below)

O Lord God, grant that between us there may reign a perpetual holy rivalry
toward a life perfectly Christian,
by virtue of which there may shine forth more and more clearly
the Divine image of Your mystic union with Your Holy Church,
as You have deigned to imprint it upon us
on the auspicious day of our being made one.

Grant, we beseech You,
that our good example of Christian living
may serve as a powerful inspiration to our children
to conform their own lives to Your holy law;
and finally, after this exile may we ascend into heaven,
where by the help of Your grace,
for which we earnestly pray,
we may merit to be joined with our children forever
and praise and bless You through everlasting ages.

Amen.

(** If there are no children, the prayer from this point reads:

O Lord God, grant that between us there may reign a perpetual holy rivalry
toward a life perfectly Christian,
by virtue of which there may shine forth more and more clearly
the Divine image of Your mystic union with Your Holy Church,
as You have deigned to imprint it upon us
on the auspicious day of our being made one,
and so living, may both of us ascend into heaven,
and merit to praise You and bless You forever.

Amen.)

Visit To A Picture Of The Sacred Heart

(INDULGENCES gaines by the faithful, who visit a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and say there one Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father, and the ejaculatory prayer:

O sweetest Heart of Jesus, I implore
That I may ever love Thee more and more!

500 days each time. - Plenary once a month on usual conditions, when they recited those prayers daily. - Pen., 10 March 1933.)

Sacred Heart Prayer

I give myself and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honor, love and glorify the Sacred Heart.

This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all His, and to do all things for the love of Him, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Him.

I therefore take You, O Sacred heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.

Act of Oblation to the Sacred Heart

My loving Jesus, out of the grateful love I bear you, and to make reparation for my unfaithfulness to grace, I give you my heart, and I consecrate myself wholly to you; and with your help I purpose never to sin again. Amen.

A Short Consecration To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus,
filled with infinite love,
broken by my ingratitude,
pierced by my sins,
yet loving me still,
accept the consecration that I make to You,
of all that I am and all that I have.
Take every faculty of my soul and body,
and draw me, day by day,
nearer and nearer to Your Sacred Side,
and there, as I can bear the lesson,
teach me Your blessed ways.

Amen.

Consecration To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

Adorable Heart of Jesus,
the tenderest, the most amiable,
the most generous of all hearts,
penetrated with gratitude at the sight of Thy benefits,
I come to consecrate myself wholly and unreservedly to Thee!
I wish to devote all my energies
to propagating Thy worship and winning,
if possible, all hearts to Thee.
Receive my heart this day, O Jesus!
Or rather take it, change it, purify it,
to render it worthy of Thee;
Make it humble, gentle, patient,
faithful and generous like Thine,
by inflaming it with the fire of Thy love.
Hide it in Thy Divine Heart
with all hearts that love Thee
and are consecrated to Thee;
never permit me to take my heart from Thee again.
Let me rather die than grieve Thy Adorable Heart.
Thou knowest O Heart of Jesus,
that the desire of my heart is to love Thee always,
to be wholly Thine in life and in death,
in time and eternity.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,
have mercy on us.

Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I trust in Thee.

Invocations To The Heart Of Jesus

(With an Act of Oblation.)

Heart of Jesus in the Eucharist,
I adore Thee.

Sweet Companion of our exile,
I adore Thee.

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,
I adore Thee.

Heart solitary, Heart humiliated,
I adore Thee.

Heart abandoned, Heart forgotten,
I adore Thee.

Heart despised, Heart outraged,
I adore Thee.

Heart ignored by men,
I adore Thee.

Heart, Lover of our hearts,
I adore Thee.

Heart pleading for love,
I adore Thee.

Heart patient in waiting for us,
I adore Thee.

Heart eager to hear our prayers,
I adore Thee.

Heart desiring that we should pray to Thee,
I adore Thee.

Heart, Source of fresh graces,
I adore Thee.

Heart silent, desiring to speak to souls,
I adore Thee.

Heart, sweet Refuge of the hidden life,
I adore Thee.

Heart, Teacher of the secrets of union with God,
I adore Thee.

Heart of Him Who sleeps, yet ever watches,
I adore Thee.

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,
have mercy on us.

Jesus Victim, I wish to comfort Thee;
I unite myself to Thee;
I offer myself in union with Thee.
I count myself as nothing before Thee;
I desire to forget myself in order to think of Thee,
to be forgotten and despised for love of Thee,
not to be understood,
not to be loved,
except by Thee.
I will hold my peace that I may listen to Thee;
I will forsake myself that I may lose myself in Thee.

Grant that I may quench Thy thirst for my salvation,
Thy burning thirst for my sanctification,
and that, being purified,
I may bestow on Thee a pure and true love.
I would no longer weary Thine expectations;
take me, I give myself to Thee.
I entrust to Thee all my actions
my mind that Thou mayest enlighten it,
my heart that Thou mayest direct it,
my will that Thou mayest establish it,
my misery that Thou mayest relieve it,
my soul and my body that Thou mayest feed them.

Eucharistic Heart of my Jesus,
Whose Blood is the life of my soul,
may it be no longer I who live,
but Thou alone Who livest in me.

Amen.

Preface Of The Sacred Heart

Father, all-powerful and ever-living God,
we do well always and everywhere to give You thanks
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lifted high on the cross,
Christ gave His life for us,
so much did He love us.
From His wounded side flowed blood and water,
the fountain of sacramental life in the Church.
To His open heart the Saviour invites all
to draw water in joy from the springs of salvation.

Now, with all the saints and angels,
we praise you for ever:

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Prayer to Know Jesus

O Lord Jesus, like Saint Paul, may I count everything as loss in comparison with the supreme advantage of knowing you.

I want to know you and what your passion and resurrection can do.

I also want to share in your sufferings in the hope that if I resemble you in death I may somehow attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Give me grace to make every effort to supplement faith with moral courage, knowledge with self-control, self-control with patience, patience with piety, piety with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

May these virtues keep me both active and fruitful and bring me to the deep knowledge of you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Prayer of Reparation

Eternal Father, I offer You the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all Its love, all Its sufferings and all Its merits:

To expiate all the sins I have committed this day, and during all my life;

To purify the good I have done in my poor way this day, and during all my life;

To make up for the good I ought to have done and that I have neglected this day and during all my life.

An Act of Consecration to
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ

Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of his righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in You, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Your goodness and bounty.

Remove from me all that can displease You or resist Your holy will; let your pure love imprint Your image so deeply upon my heart, that I shall never be able to forget You or to be separated from You.

May I obtain from all Your loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Your Heart, for in You I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to You.

Amen.
