Almighty and Everlasting God, the eternal salvation of those who believe in You, hear us on behalf of Your servants who are sick, for whom we humbly beg the help of your mercy, so that, being resorted to health, they may render thanks to you in your Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Virgin, most holy,
Mother of the Word Incarnate,
Treasurer of graces,

I fly top your motherly affection

Thanksgiving for Recovery from Sickness

Glory be to Thee, O heavenly Father, for the sickness Thou hast in mercy sent me. Lord, the stripes Thou didst lay on me were the stripes of love; glory be to Thee. Before I was humbled I did wickedly; but now will I keep Thy word. It is good for me that Thou hast humbled me, that I might learn Thine ordinances.

Glory be to Thee, O Lord, glory be to Thee, for delivering me from the terrors of death, and restoring me to my health again; glory be to Thee. I called upon the Lord in my trouble, and the Lord heard me. I shall not die, but live and declare the works of the Lord. Bless the Lord, therefore, O my soul; as long as I have my life, which at first God gave me, and which He has now restored to me, I will sing praises unto my God.

O Lord God, who hast in Thy tender mercy prolonged my days in this world, give me grace to spend this life, which Thou has now lengthened, in Thy service. O give me grace to perform all my resolutions of new obedience, and so to live in the filial fear of Thee all the remainder of my time that I may at last die at peace with myself, at peace with the whole world, and at peace with Thee; for the sake of Thy Dearly-beloved Son, our Lord and Savior.

O kind and good Mother, whose own soul was pierced by the sword of sorrow, look upon us while, in our sickness, we arraign ourselves beside you on the Calvary where your Jesus hangs.

Dowered with the high grace of suffering, and hopeful of fulfilling in our own flesh what is wanting in our sharing of Christ's passion, on behalf of his Mystical Body, the Church, we consecrate to you ourselves and our pain.

We pray that you will place them on that Altar of the Cross to which Jesus is affixed.

May they be little victims of propitiation for our salvation, for the salvation of all peoples.

O Mother of Sorrows, accept this consecration.

Strengthen our hopeful hearts, that as partakers of Christ's sufferings we may also share in his comfort now and for evermore.

Dear God, be our redeemer, our internal teacher and our divine physician.

Thank you for your presence in our lives.

We surrender to You all we are, all we think, all we feel and all we have.

We recognize in this moment that Yours is the power to heal and make us whole again.

You who have the power to work miracles, You who rule time and space, please take us in Your arms and hold us.

Lord Jesus, you came into the world to heal our infirmities and to endure our sufferings. You went about healing all and bringing comfort to those in pain and need. We come before you now in this time of illness asking that you may be the source of our strength in body, courage in spirit and patience in pain. May we join ourselves more closely to you on the cross and in your suffering that through them we may draw our patience and hope. Assist us and restore us to health so that united more closely to your family, the Church, we may give praise and honour to your name.

Prayer for the Terminally Ill

Lord, forgive (Ill persons name) any sins that they may have committed.

If it is your will, raise them up to a healthy body and a sound mind to serve the residue of their days in your service and to your glory.

If it is not your will to heal them, then recognize them as a lamb of your fold and a sheep of your flock.

Send your holy angels to protect them from all spiritual harm, to guide and direct them, to counsel and defend them.
