O sweetest Jesus,
Thou who camest into the world to give all souls the life of Thy grace,
and who, to preserve and nourish it in them,
hast willed to be at one the daily cure of their daily infirmities
and their daily sustenance;
we humbly beseech Thee,
by Thy Heart all on fire with love for us,
to pour forth upon them all Thy Divine Spirit,
so that those who are unhappy in mortal sin,
may turn to Thee and regain the life of grace which they have lost,
and those who, through Thy gift,
are already living this Divine life,
may draw near daily,
when they can,
to Thy sacred table, whence,
by means of daily Communion,
they may receive daily the antidote of their daily venial sins,
and may every day foster within themselves the life of grace;
and being thus ever more and more purified,
may come at last to the possession of that eternal life
which is happiness with thee.

Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You were already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

Communion Viaticum
My God, if I am to die today or suddenly at any time I wish to receive Holy Communion as my Viaticum.
I desire that my last food my be the Body and Blood of my Savior and Redeemer; my last words; Jesus, Mary and Joseph; my last affection, an act of pure love of God and of perfect contrition for my sins; my last consolation to die in Thy Holy Grace and in Thy Holy Love.

Act of Charity Before Communion
O Most Sweet Saviour, Jesus Christ, how great was Thy love, which drew Thee from the bosom of the Father
to this vale of tears, to take our flesh and endure infinite miseries and wrongs, yea, even the death of the Cross, and that only for us miserable sinners and for our salvation.
O how great was Thy love!
Thou mightest have condemned us, and Thou didst rather choose to save us:
we were guilty, and Thou, the sinless One, didst endure our punishment to set us free.
Out of love it was that Thou camest down to take our flesh; and when about to depart from this world to the Father, Thou didst leave to us this Sacrament as a pledge of Thy love, that after a new and wondrous manner Thou mightest abide with us for ever; Thou whose delights are to be with the children of men.
O Lord how worthy art Thou of Love, who dost so much for love of us!
Wherefore I will love Thee, O Lord, my Strength, my Refuge, and my Deliverer.
O God, Thou art true Love!
He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in Thee.

Overlook my faults, O Lord Who wast born of a Virgin, and purify my heart, and make it a temple for Thy spotless Body and Blood.
Let me not be rejected from Thy presence, O Thou Who hast infinitely great mercy.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
How can I who am unworthy dare to come to the communion of Thy Holy Things?
For even if I should dare to approach Thee with those who are worthy, my garment betrays me, for it is not a festal robe, and I shall cause the condemnation of my sinful soul.
Cleanse, O Lord, the pollution from my soul, and save me as the Lover of men.

After Communion Prayer
Glory to Thee O God. (3 times)I thank Thee, O Lord my God, that Thou hast not rejected me, a sinner, but hast vouchsafed me to be a communicant of Thy holy Things.
I thank Thee that Thou hast vouchsafed me, the unworthy, to partake of Thy most pure and heavenly Gifts.
But, O Master, Lover of mankind, Who for our sake didst die and rise again and didst bestow upon us these dread and life-creating Mysteries for the well-being and sanctification of our souls and bodies, grant that these may be even unto me for the healing of both soul and body, for the averting of everything hostile, for the enlightenment of the eyes of my heart, for the peace of the powers of my soul, for faith unashamed, for love unfeigned, for the fullness of wisdom, for the keeping of Thy commandments, for an increase of Thy divine grace, and for the attainment of Thy Kingdom; that being preserved by Them in Thy holiness, I may remember Thy grace always, and no longer live for myself, but for Thee, our Master and Benefactor; and thus when I have departed this life in hope of life eternal, I may attain unto everlasting rest, where the sound of them that keep festival is unceasing and the delight is endless of them that behold the ineffable beauty of Thy countenance.

Saint Thomas Aquinas' Prayer of Thanksgiving After Communion
I give Thee thanks, O holy Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, that Thou hast vouchsafed, for no merit of my own, but of the mere condescension of Thy mercy, to satisfy me, a sinner and Thine unworthy servant, with the Precious Blood of Thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ. I implore Thee, let not this Holy Communion be to me an increase of guilt unto my punishment, but an availing plea unto pardon and forgiveness. Let it be to me the armor of faith and the shield of good will. Grant that it may work the extinction of my vices, the rooting out of concupiscence and lust, and the increase within me of charity and patience, of humility and obedience. Let it be my strong defense against the snares of all my enemies, visible and invisible; the stilling and the calm of all my impulses, carnal and spiritual; my indissoluble union with Thee the one and true God, and a blessed consummation at my last end. On Holy Communion During Advent

It is true that everything in Advent is so arranged as to be a preparation for the coming of the Saviour at the feast of Christmas, and that the spirit of the faithful should be one of earnest expectation of this same Saviour; and yet, such is the happy lot of the children of the new Law, that they can, if they wish it, really, and at once, receive this God whom the Church is expecting; and thus, this familiar visit of Jesus will become itself one of the preparations for His great and solemn visit. Let those, then, who are living the life of grace, and to whom the glorious day of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ will bring an increase of spiritual life, not omit to prepare, by Communion, for the reception they intend to give to the heavenly Spouse on the sacred night of His coming. These Communions will be interviews with their divine Lord, giving them confidence, and love, and all those interior dispositions wherewith they would welcome Him who comes to load them with fresh grace, for this Jesus is full of grace and truth.
They will understand this better by reflecting on the sentiments which the august Mother of Jesus had in her blessed soul during the time which preceded the divine birth. This birth is to be an event of more importance, both to the salvation of mankind and to Mary's own glory, than even that of the first accomplishment of the Incarnation; for the Word was made Flesh in order that He might be born. The immense happiness of holding in her arms her Son and her God, would make the sacred hour of Jesus' birth dearer and happier to Mary, than even that in which she was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost, and received from Him the divine fruit of her womb.
During those nine months, when she knew that her Jesus was so undividedly hers, what must have been the happiness which filled her heart! It was a bliss which was a worthy preparation for that more blissful night of Bethlehem.
Christians! your Communions during Advent are to prepare you for your Christmas joy, by giving you something of the delight which Mary felt before the birth of Jesus.

I still remember when my daughter received her first communion. The occasion was solemn and very beautiful. Everyone was excited especially those little ones that would receive the body of Christ for the first time. The first communion dress of my daughter was simple and beautiful. We specially prepared for it for the special day.
